Holiday Stressors - Relieving them
Hello all, we all know it is that time of the year when our stress levels go through the roof. We have work, school, family commitments, and sew much more on our plates already, and now we need to add, decorating the tree and house, wrapping presents and sew much more the list seems to grow and never get smaller.
STRESSSSSS - o WHyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy i just wanna know whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! LOL I love that movie!
List help us to relieve some of our stresses during this time of year for sure. I have them all over the place as matter of fact; that does NOT mean they get done, all checked over crossed out and finished. But I have them!
I guess that photo could be you trying to put on a binding too! LOL I know it is me for sure.
We already know we are going to gain weight during the holidays. So mark that lose some weight off right now, it is not worth it, it will make life HELLLLLLLLLLLL yes it may echo through your head too. But, seriously why put that on your list of to do for this time of year, you know that damn chocolate is gonna be on the desk, the welcome entry of anywhere you go, even at the dentist I bet, he is an ass for that just a way to keep in business I guess! Sugar free my butt! So eat it when you see it, free is free!
Now, for that real to do list such as shop for gift: ON LINE makes it sew much easier, I know I know, gift cards are easy - they suck unless they are for mega amounts and wont lose value. Put some thought into your gift giving - something for that person you know so well and they will appreciate the effort. Better yet make them something (okay goes on list for next year) it is a little late in the season right now, unless you can do it in no time flat. Me not so much therefor back up gifts are on the way just in case the hand made ones do not make it on time. Sew they may be New Year gifts - Hoping 2018 comes in with a Bang for a better year for sure.
Now, List of to do's where do you put them? REFRIGERATOR door, move the kids stuff out the way, this list is more important and just tell them Santa needs to see this! Have it where you can see it regularly, and you can check it off regularly, or put check boxes by them if they are regular things to do more than once, like vacuum, load dishwasher etc., those are things your off spring can do to earn for their gift buying by the way! So an extra list for them next to your big list works great too. Unless you are Martha and have one of those handy little crafty chalk boards in your kitchen then make them look nice or not, its your list.
For those on your list of gifts you have no idea but you know they are sewing crafty quilter peoples, then HELLO, give them something in those lines. It is easy to do, a small cutting mat, rotary blades, and new cutter will be a hit for sure. Especially if it is one they do not have nor did they realize they needed it.
Family, well you got that! You know them! Work on the list late in the evening if need be, but get it done on time and work down the list. I am telling you I did way better on line this year than ever before, and it was worth it. Matter of fact some were delivered today on Sunday. My sister and Best friend live out of state, I had them shipped directly to them so I did not have to do that.
Also, If you have gifts to mail do that on line as well. You can print the shipping label on USPS.com and set up a pick up too. No line at the PO, if you have a pay pal account even better go to tools, go to ALL tools then to shipping with the little truck on it, you can do your labels right there and schedule a pick up too, comes right out of your pp account!
Gift cards are okay for some too, the ones you really have no idea what they need or have everything already. Make them count though, make them for anything, not the restaurants you like, how do you know if they really like it or they just say they do when with you!
List again, look at each time you walk by it, cross off as you go. Look at again and say hmmm, that can wait or that needs to a BIG star next to it. Make it your own, and do it the way you like, but do it. It will help with the stress of this time of year. Once it is done make another one for what still remains you forgot or put on the back burner. If you have time to sew do that too, it will de-stress you unless it is a gift that was due last week, take your time, and stay calm.
I hear wine is good this time of year for stress related Holiday hum bugs!
I just go with the flow. I do what I can when I can, and put thought into. I will get my list done in my head since that is the one that counts. Baking is on it as well, and yep banana bread in oven now. Will make other things this week as well when I need to be mindless and just do it, because I bake with no plan it comes as it comes and taste delish no matter what.
Yep this is not sewing related, but it can help you get less stressed and more time at your machine once you get the big stuff out of the way. Plus well I had to see if this was going to work today or not.
But still a quilt unfinished is waiting to love.
Peace and Hope your time leading up to your Holiday Celebrations are less stressful this year, and you have time to you enjoy however you celebrate.
