Holiday themes - which ones are you working on now?

It is THAT time of year again folks - The Holidays! But there are so many; what do you choose to work on? Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter the list goes on and on. Well, I am in that place as well.

It's November, and I have orders out for Spring fabrics arriving in a week! Yes, Spring already. But that is the nature of the beast; we are ahead of it all. But just how far ahead is too far ahead?

I don't know honestly. I don't do a lot for other holidays, I do however do a lot for Christmas, it is my favorite of all Holidays actually. Matter of fact I have Christmas music playing in my studio all the time! WHY? It is just something I do. I am no freak about it, I mean I don't have a tree up year around (they get too dusty). But I do have a few cd's I like; they are just calming to me, and I do not like crazy in my studio unless I am cleaning! Then it is P!nk all the way.

Sew, what to work on and when. Honestly we make Christmas presents all throughout the year since they do take time, and we may have more than one to do. But, do you use Christmas theme fabrics, or regular? That is a choice and what is the pattern you are using calling for. I mean you could make table runners, wall hangings and such in June with a holiday theme on them. Or someone you know may love Christmas and want a quilt in that theme!

Currently under my needle I have a gorgeous panel that will cover the half moon window in my living room where my tree sits. Since I hate that window with a passion as it is, the sun glares through it at me constantly! I just hate it, so it is usually covered at least 90%. But this year I had this amazing panel that I am using to cover it completely. We will see how it works. I wanted a nice one to compliment my tree.

But I do have a few quilts ready to go on my frame too! I just have to get to them. Only three. Made them this summer.

All In all I think it is your choice. Work on what you want, that makes the process so much better. I think when we work on things we like a lot we enjoy them more. So if you are a holiday person work on them. But, you can not forget the wedding, baby, birthday presents. I know of a member on QPI who makes 50 tops then quilts them, then 50 more and sew on. I think that is amazing first of all, but it makes sense, she has things ready to go and just has to quilt them when needed for something special or a client need! Yes! Lone I am speaking about you! It amazes me how fast you work!

And today, we do not have to stick with the traditional red and green for Christmas I have many fabrics in many colors now Blues mainly, and then I can do Black as well. I love the choices, and have to make a decision here quick! But they are selling quite well too. Sew check them out on www.sewnsewhome.com and order today. Remember FALL15 is the coupon code. Once the new spring line arrives those will go up as well.

What to prepare for next on your list? It is YOUR choice, no rules in YOUR studio except your own. Work on what has inspired you today. Make a log cabin, one that curves or not, a pineapple quilt or a just a plain tried and true 9 patch. The colors are what set it off, and YES I do use black in my quilts.

Now, I am off to get that FMQ done on my wall hanging, drag out the Christmas tree to check lights, and oh yeah I have orders to get out too!

Create today, whether big or small you did it, it will be loved and wanted and cherished. It may not be perfect in your eyes, but watch the eyes light up from the one who receives such an amazing gift from you. They know you put a lot of love into just for them, and then take heed you made that and part of you will remain with for a very long time.

Every quilt is waiting to love, but a quilt unfinished is a quilt which can not love. Let your quilts give the love you put into them for when you gift them, that love shines through every stitch, tear, and maybe even a little blood you got out with peroxide or what ever it is you used! Just quilt it, it will love and be loved.
