Sew Many Machines - How Do I pick ONE!

Hello and Happy Wednesday! I think it's Wednesday any way...

I am telling you, it's just chaotic for me these last few days. I don't know which way is up - I blame it on the full moon, the weather changing and just not enough brain capacity to process it all.

Sew. Machines what is the best one? I HAVE NO IDEA!

I do love the ones I do have though. Brother's have been so loyal to me as well as Singer, I do have a Janome HD that is okay I use it regularly, but it is temperamental at times and is not that old either!

I can say if you click the link above you are going to see some amazing deals today! WOW! I have purchased several item from Sewing Machine Plus and have been 100% happy with them! I got my grace frame from them too, and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I am however looking to upgrade at some point this year and maybe go with a robotic system - oh the dream! LOL! But I do have a local dealer here who has trade in all the time so I will be watching their site as well. for that.

But seriously, how do you chose just one? I have a total of 7 YES SEVEN machines; now granted two are treadle's one is my featherweight, and then I have my PQ1500SL mid arm (which I love), then my Janome HD, Singer Futura Quartet Embroidery machine which I love to use for binding as well. Then I have a Brother which is basic but was an amazing deal and great back up as I continued to purchase more and more machines! I think I am addicted to them. BUT I will NEVER pay as astronomical price for one EVER! I look for the deal codes, sales, coupon codes and discounts all over the place, it takes a bit and now I have WIKIBUY on my Amazon account which tells me whats on sale and how much off I can get or if it is a better price elsewhere, and I can tag something to be notified when it does go on sale!

You will start to see more of the links like the ones above as I see the best deals coming up and you can save on the items you need. I will be placing more of them in the blog as that is easier for you all to find! As well I will be adding them to my website too! Nothing like a good deal!

No back to machines and how to pick one!

Well it all depends on what YOU want in a machine, what YOUR budget is and what YOU like. There are so many variables to picking a machine. But, if you are just starting out or looking for a machine that is light weight, priced well, and easy to use I say go with Brother for your money. They are not terribly priced for beginners, but can go way up there in price as they are the sister to Juki! YES, believe it or not they are the same company, the differences are the use of more metal parts in Juki over Brother.

Here are my criteria when looking for a machine:
What do I want to pay? SET A BUDGET that you can afford - or - ask yourself if you are willing to finance the machine or put it on lay a way.
What am I going to use it for? Just sewing small items, quilting, heavy duty or all the above. There are machines that will do it all, you do have to look for what you specifically - I like to use Amazon for this as they have so much. Also go to a local dealer if you have one local and try them out.
What does it need for me to buy it? Such as Huge number of decorative stitches, large throat (harp) space, auto thread cut, auto threader (not all of them work well or the instruction are vague on how to use them), drop bobbin in top or front or side loading I have all three and well I like drop in best.
Weight? Why weight, well you may be moving it around from room to room, work space to work space or taking it with you on trips and such. Amazon again you can see weights on many machines, others you will have to go the brand specific website for that.
Durability - Look at reviews or ask for recommendations in a group you belong too, or friends what they: https://www.facebook.com/groups/quiltingimperfectly/
What options does it come with - such as cover, extra feet, bonus packages, an extension table, can it be in inset to a table etc., I had though about insetting my Brother PQ 1500 SL, then remembered the bobbin is in the end so I would have to pull it out every time I needed a new bobbin if I did that! No thank you it is not a light weight machine at all! It will go back and forth from sewing table for heavy things and when I want to haul ass on straight line stitching as that is all it does but 1500 spm! Scared me the first time I floored it!
Can it be put on a quilting frame? Many can on Grace Frames especially: https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=648708&u=1684753&m=53072&urllink=&afftrack=

Sewing Machines Plus also has a lot of great reviews of products that can be very helpful when trying to decide on a new machine. I know often you will be told to go try one, yes that is a good idea, unless you live too far away from a place you can do this. I will not drive 150 miles to look at a machine, I will but it, try it and if I don't like it return it. Simple as that. NOW if you are in the market for a Long Arm that is a whole other story, those you need to really research as they are investments for long term or business.

Now I am not knocking any higher end priced machines either, I am just not going to pay for a car that sews! Simple and easy as that.

In all when shopping for a new sewing machine, embroidery, or quilting I look for what fits me; after all it is YOUR purchase you know what you need and want and also what you can afford. The more the machine cost the less fabric you can buy...

That's all for today. Don't forget to subscribe if you have not already. I will begin picking a name monthly for a prize or two.

Create well and have a productive week.

Peace!
